Scotland’s First Minister experiences ATT’s immersive training at SSE’s Safety Leadership Centre
Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney, recently celebrated the first anniversary of SSE’s Faskally Safety Leadership Centre in Perth and experienced Active Training Team’s award-winning immersive training programme for himself.
Hosted by SSE, the visit brought together senior figures including SSE’s incoming Chief Executive Martin Pibworth and Chair of SSEN Transmission, Gregor Alexander, to celebrate the success of the past 12 months at the centre. The First Minister was given the opportunity to take part in the safety leadership training programme designed and delivered by ATT where we use a powerful blend of film, live drama, and facilitated discussion to promote safety leadership at all levels of an organisation. Our psychologically grounded, multi-sensory training methods are designed to ensure lessons stick – influencing real-world decisions and behaviours long after the session ends. I was very grateful to get the chance to experience it myself on the centre’s first anniversary. The key message – that anyone should confidently challenge unsafe situations – is universally applicable and could save lives.”

6,000+ participants have already gone through the centre, significantly improving their understanding of the importance and value of good communication skills, with 91% (representing a 44% uplift from pre to post training) agreeing that “When it comes to safety, I believe I am a leader.”
Over the next three years, the Faskally Centre will welcome more than 7,000 SSE participants annually, with ATT delivering training to SSE staff, contractors, and partners.
