ATT wins TT Club ‘Learning and Engaging’ Innovation in Safety Award for Thrive

At an awards ceremony yesterday in Central London, Active Training Team received the TT Club Innovation in Safety Award for ‘Learning and Engaging’, jointly presented with ICHCA International.
Now in its eighth year, the awards recognise innovation in the global freight supply chain that has resulted in a demonstrable improvement to safety.
ATT received the award for Thrive, the immersive Safety Leadership Centre in Immingham, originally developed in partnership with Ørsted, to support their Hornsea offshore wind farm projects. The centre is now available to organisations in the wider energy, ports and maritime sectors.
The award also recognised Thrive USA, the mobile version of the programme now delivered by our NYC-based team to organisations throughout North America.
The programme was built in response to a complex challenge: hundreds of workers from multiple contractors, operating across terminals, fabrication yards, vessels and offshore sites, in an environment where traditional briefing-based training wasn’t enough to create the behavioural consistency needed to prevent serious incidents.
Thrive addresses the real safety challenges that face many working in maritime and port environments, to create lasting behavioural safety and safety leadership change.
Since opening in September 2020, over 8,200 people have completed the programme. The centre continues to host training days for Ørsted, alongside other major players from across the renewables industry, including Siemens Energy, Ocean Winds and Hitachi Energy.
Dermot Kerrigan, ATT Director and Co-Founder, said:
“This recognition from the global freight and cargo handling community means a lot to us. Thrive – both UK and US versions of the programme – was built on a belief that changing safety behaviour requires a different kind of experience – one that connects emotionally, builds genuine confidence, and gives people the tools to act. It’s been a privilege to develop this work alongside Ørsted, and we hope the programme continues to help more organisations in the ports, maritime and energy sectors to access what immersive training can do.”
