Faskally Showcase: ATT and SSE open the Centre doors to 18 organisations
On 27 May, we welcomed 27 safety and operational leaders representing 18 organisations – from energy, construction, transportation, and beyond – to the SSE Faskally Safety Leadership Centre in Perth for a special Showcase event.
Having hosted 9,000 participants from SSE, their supply chain and external organisations over the last two years, this was an opportunity for interested organisations to experience what Faskally can deliver: award-winning safety leadership training.
For part of the showcase, guests moved through our immersive safety story in the morning, before getting a taster of our workshop content: a sequence designed not just to inform, but to place people inside a serious incident and ask them to consider the decisions made, the consequences that followed, and the human cost.
As one attendee put it: “each step really makes you think about the decisions others have made and the impact on ourselves and colleagues. The whole centre is designed with real emotional resonance and impact.”
The emotional impact was a recurring theme. For many in the room, it was unlike anything they had encountered in a training context before: “I’ve been moved to almost tears today, and I’ve never experienced that in a training course before. For me it’s really struck a personal chord — but I think in general it’s a really powerful tool for organisations to take forward.”
The showcase event concluded with a Q&A, where SSE’s Eddie Mclaughlin, Head of Projects & Contractor SHE Performance, and Liz Tessem-Cotton, Head of Safety, Health and Environment Engagement, were joined by ATT’s Adam Christopher, Dermot Kerrigan, and Chris Downham, to participate in a genuinely engaging session – thanks to the thoughtful and wide-ranging questions from the safety leaders in the room.
Bringing safety leaders into one room carries its own value. Sitting alongside peers from other sectors, attendees compared their reactions to the same experience, talked through how it might apply in their own operations, and started shaping what they would take back to their organisations. Those conversations were a core part of the day – a shared reference point for decisions still to come.

The event supports SSE’s wider ambition to open the legacy centre to organisations across a range of sectors, enabling more businesses to benefit from its unique learning experience.”
